How to set up a Postmaster and Abuse aliases in MDaemon

Purpose & Scope

Each domain on your MDaemon should have a postmaster and an abuse alias. The steps below describe how to configure the alias.

Procedure

From the MDaemon menu bar:

  1. Click Accounts.
  2. Click Address Aliases.
  3. In the Address Alias field enter postmaster@domain.com, where domain.com is your domain name. If you'd like to use the same postmaster for all domains in MDaemon, enter postmaster@$LOCALDOMAIN$.
  4. In the Actual Address field, select from the pull down menu the account that you would to have mail for the postmaster directed to. (This is usually the email administrators email address)
  5. Click Add.
  6. In the Address Alias field, enter abuse@domain.com, where domain.com is your domain name. If you'd like to use the same address for all domains in MDaemon, enter abuse@$LOCALDOMAIN$.
  7. In the Actual Address field, select from the pull down menu the account to have mail for abuse directed to. (This is usually the email administrators email address)
  8. Click OK.

Comments

The $LOCALDOMAIN$ macro for aliases will only function on MDaemon 9 and above.
